Hi everyone, I am this week’s blogger. I will be telling everyone what we did this week. This week we talked more about what is a community and how a community works. We also had firefighter Jay come in and talk about fire safety and how to get out of a building if there is an emergency. We read Your Fantastic Elastic Brain and did a one pager on the brain. On the one pager we used sentences, words, pictures, poems, and some other things. Some of us did go-getter laps which are laps that you run around the blacktop. You are only allowed to run 8 laps a day which equals 1 mile. When you run a mile you have to check of one mile on your go-getters slip. Once you get to 5 miles you can turn it into the gym teacher and she’ll let you pick a mini foot from a bin. It was a good week.
On Monday we talked about rights and responsibilities in our community. One of our responsibilities is to do our class job. On the 19th we talked about how to help each other be safe and comfortable at school. On Wednesday we started our sunglass project. It is so fun to work on we work on it during writing. In the beginning of the school year we made commitments. School is cool. Bye for now!
I am the blogger this week. I will be telling you what we learned at school this week.
This week we read a book called Bubble Gum Brain and Brick Brain. A bubble gum brain is when you are positive about yourself and will keep trying. A brick brain is when you always have to be perfect and when you make a mistake you give up. We did a lot of reading responses. We did an activity with a gummy worm and a gummy lifesaver. The goal was to get the worm called Fred into the lifesaver as quick as you can only using paper clips. After we wrote about how to get Fred in the life jacket. In P.E. we played foursquare and hop scotch. At the end we ran two times around the blacktop. On Monday we got Go Getter lap slips. Go Getter lap slips are for when you run 8 times around the blacktop. You sign off a mile on your Go Getter lap slip. Once you run five miles you go to the gym teacher and she will give you a mini foot. In music we played group games and practiced rhythm. In art we learned about a man named Vincent Van Gogh. In library we read a book about a lion that roared in the library. We also set a goal to push ourselves to read harder books. That was the classroom blog for today. I am the blogger for this week of school. I am going to tell you what we did for the first week of school. We learned about communities and about how to make a community. We also made a paper called what makes a successful student and we do math and we do team building like dots and spaghetti. That’s it for today.
This year our class will work together to keep a blog to share our learning with you. Stay tuned for more updates!
