This week we figured out that we are the lakers at the East Lake dedication. We also did our narrative writing, math rotations and our multiplication and division check. We finished our community unit, and moved on to hydrology and petrology. We read the books: Owl Moon, A Hen For Izzy Pipick, The Lion’s Share, Stand Tall Molly Lou Mellon and The Boy who Harnessed the Wind. We were very busy this week!
At reading time we talked about how does the character change from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. Then in writing time we wrote about a personal narrative about you. We read the book Those Shoes. We also had picture day. We had a great week.
We've had a busy month in September! We've spent time getting to know each other, building a classroom community and learning in reading, writing and math. Here are some pictures of what we've been up to all month. Writing letters to our pen pals in Texas. We can't wait to hear back! Learning about teamwork by building towers out of cups. Telling our personal narratives to a partner using a story map to guide us. Laps for the Lake!
Hi everyone, I am this week’s blogger. I will be telling everyone what we did this week. This week we talked more about what is a community and how a community works. We also had firefighter Jay come in and talk about fire safety and how to get out of a building if there is an emergency. We read Your Fantastic Elastic Brain and did a one pager on the brain. On the one pager we used sentences, words, pictures, poems, and some other things. Some of us did go-getter laps which are laps that you run around the blacktop. You are only allowed to run 8 laps a day which equals 1 mile. When you run a mile you have to check of one mile on your go-getters slip. Once you get to 5 miles you can turn it into the gym teacher and she’ll let you pick a mini foot from a bin. It was a good week.
